Exploring the boundary between color and geometry

Manuel the artist

Hello! I'm an artist fueled by the interplay of shapes and vibrant colors. My work blends logic with emotion, using geometric forms as a foundation to engage the mind and vivid hues to stir the soul. Join me each month for a sensory and thought-provoking journey. Whether you're drawn to the precision of geometry or the depth of color, my goal is to enrich your appreciation of geometric art.

Welcome to the art of color and geometry. A place to discover, learn, and be inspired.

The Geometry

I use a compass, straight edge, and t-square to craft all the circles and lines required for the templates that form the foundation of my paintings. This precise method ensures each artwork is rooted in meticulous geometry and craftsmanship.

The Color

In my paintings, I only use primary and secondary colors, perfectly complementing the six circles of the Seed of Life, which serves as the foundational structure for most of my artwork. This deliberate choice of colors enhances the geometric harmony and visual impact of each piece.

The Spiritual

My paintings infuse spiritual depth through color symbolism: yellow for the Spirit, blue for heaven, red for hell, purple for beings, green for angels, and orange for demons. Each hue represents a unique entity of existence.

Payaso Verde

The face is yellow, and the eyes are green so they pop out. The crown is blue lined in orange, with the lips at the bottom in red. In the middle of it all lies the nose in purple. All these make the face of a clown. The face is yellow because it represents the Spirit. The eyes are green because Angels at times function as the Spirit's eyes. The crown is blue because Heaven is up above. It is lined in orange because, contrary to popular belief, demons are always looking for a way to Heaven or even Earth; anything but Hell. The lips at the bottom are red because Hell is down below, and lips represent evil always blabbing. The nose is purple in the center because beings are the focus of all that look at the face of The Spirit.

Colorful Cactus Flower Square

This was an interesting design made with only lines that turned out to look like the flower of a cactus with a square in the middle. The three faces of the square cover all three primary colors, and as they radiate out, the faces meet with their complementary colors. Yellow at the top meets with purple, blue to the right meets with orange, and red to the left meets with green. Notice as well how the opposing sides of the primary colors also blend with their complementary colors. This gives it a unified and extended perspective. Another thing of interest is the star in the middle and how, if you look outside it, you might notice another kind of six-pointed star that keeps growing as one moves outward. This is what makes it look like the flower of a cactus, giving it its name.

Melding Faces

We are different and unique; some have a mixture of more good than evil, but when two of us unite, both become god-like. When we look at this painting, it is difficult not to see faces. What makes it really stand out is how two faces share one eye. To the right, we see an orange face with a blue eye, and to the left, we see a green face with a red eye. Where the two meet, they share a section in yellow with a purple eye. The lips are a mixture of blue and red. There is also a reflection of each face in their opposing colors beneath the ones right side up. As we stated at the beginning, they represent the mixture of good and evil in people in the world. The eyes are the windows to the soul. Some can project an ugly appearance but inside are more good than bad, and others can project a beautiful appearance but inside are more bad than good. But it doesn't matter what the mixture of each is; when they meet, they project the best of us, and inside they are simply both beings.

It's a Secret Clover

This is a new way of finding the golden ratio between two circles discovered by Hunter Hughes. The red-banded circle is in golden ratio with the larger blue circle. The few lines that are used are all critical in this new way of finding the golden ratio. I stepped outside of my comfort zone when choosing how to color this drawing. It is more abstract than my usual symmetric designs. I wanted to keep some of the symmetry by making the red band stand out from the blue circle. And if you notice, the other two large circles have their own colors. The one to the left of the blue is mostly green, and the one at the top is mostly orange. There is no purple in the painting out of choice. I wanted to draw attention to the struggle between good and evil with the red and blue and the green and orange.

Octopus With Hands

While making the drawing for this painting, the octopus was easy to see. It was only after starting to choose the colors that I discovered the two orange tentacles were making the now-famous hand sign for hearts. I chose yellow as the core because that is what resides inside all beings. The purple was not only the standard complementary color of yellow but it also seems fitting for an octopus. The crown of its head is in green because they have a generally positive view, probably because of the recent stories about how smart they are. The bottom tentacles are blue and red because all beings have a mixture of both good and evil. The octopus has a dark side, as some have experienced when they grip onto divers and don't let go, or with the recent news about how they travel with schools of fish and punch some of them. Any way you look at it, once you see the two tentacles making the hearts, you can't help but feel positive.

Heaven and Hell

This painting is a simple design, but it made a great impression on how I view the complementary colors of blue and orange and red and green. Blue attracts orange because demons are always looking to find heaven, and red attracts green because angels are always looking to help those in hell. There is more to say about how this must have been by design, but I don't have the words for it yet. Hopefully, in the future, I can share what I feel but can't put into words yet.
